Study Skills w/Ruby: Building Comprehension through Active Reading and Cornell Notes
6 grade; M-F 9:00 am-12:00 pm $500 (for 2 weeks)
5 grade; M-F 12:45-3:00 pm $400 (for 2 weeks)

Get up to speed in your expository reading, note-taking, and writing in this crash course with our very own 6th grade teacher, Ruby Fuller. Using current event news sources, your in-coming fifth or sixth grader will be taught how to actively read expository text, take notes using an age-appropriate version of Cornell Notes, and develop organized paragraphs that emphasize using evidence to support ideas.

Mad Science/Wings & Things
K -3 Grade; M-F 9:00 am-3:00 pm; $450

Fantastic hands-on activities and loads of scientific information kid-style. Includes fun games and outdoor recess. It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s a Rocket! It’s a high-flying week of camp exploring the science of flight and aerodynamics. From the earliest flying machines to space travel, your imagination will take flight. You’ll make kites, planes, rockets, hovercrafts and more. Experiment with the laws of physics, celestial navigation, Newton’s Laws of Motion, space technology and rocket building. Campers will even discover the star secrets of the universe. Come soar with Mad Science in this aerodynamic adventure camp

Creative Drama & Dance with the Funky Divas

If you love music, dancing and acting then this is the camp for you. In Funky Divas Performance Art Camp we dress up, create music videos and act out Fairytales. All kinds fun activities including: Hip Hop Dance, Face-Painting, Karaoke, Arts & Crafts, Dance games, Dance performances, and more!

Basketball with the Hoop Masters

Minecraft Programming 1 with Computerwise Kids
1-4 Grade; M-F 9:00 am-3:00 pm; $450

Minecraft introduces students to programming using the Compucraft Mod for Minecraft. Kids really engage with the big ideas of programming – problem-solving, thinking mathematically and using logic and reason. And in this camp we also have games and sports time and even some craft projects. Join us for camp fun and lots of MINECRAFT!

Debate Strategies and Tournament (for experienced debaters)
4-6 Gade; M-F 9:00 am-3:00 pm; $450

Learn how to add punch to those arguments, enhance your research, and learn some techniques for steering debates in your favor. This class is for debaters with some experience. The class will move fast and culminate in a serious tournament.

Lego Creativity and Robotics Workshop
1-3 Grade; M-F 9:00 am-12:00 pm; $250

Work individually and in teams on fun LEGO challenges with different LEGO kits.. Also delve into building and programming. LEGO smart is not just about building—it’s working together in teams, solving problems, creating solutions and exploring your creativity.

Trash Island: Eco-Inventors with Kayla

This is a class about turning everyday recycled materials into creative new inventions. Built around a theme that focuses on exploration, Trash Island is great for all ages and pushes out of the box thinking, team-building, creativity and communication.

Lego Movie Animation

Make LEGOs come to life using stop-motion animation! Storyboard ideas, develop plots, create unique Lego characters and sets as you bring inanimate objects to life

Quest/Game Makers with Krikor
3-6 Grade; M-F 12:45 pm-3:00 pm; $200

Do you like the card games of Magic? Pokeman? Join Krikor to collaborate with friends to create a game that incorporates characters, levels, challenges and fantasy. You even get to design your own avatar and print it or make it with some special materials.

Mad Science/Eureka!
K-3 Grade; M-F 9:00 am-3:00 pm; $450

This is a camp designed to inspire the inventor and scientist within! Each day campers will be given challenges, which must be overcome by using basic materials, tips from world famous inventors, including DA Vinci, Edison, Ben Franklin and Rube Goldberg, newly acquired science knowledge, and, most importantly, your mind! Thomas Edison said, “Invention is 10% inspiration and 90% perspiration,” and we say this camp is sure to be 100% fun!

Redstone Advanced Minecraft Programming with Computerwise Kids
1-6 Grade; M-F 9:00 am-3:00 pm; $450

Redstone is an innovative part of the game that makes Minecraft an incredibly educational and engaging game for the player. The students are "crafting" devices, gadgets and contraptions within the game to outpace, outthink and outlive their competitors. Using Redstone, players will learn how to build circuits, signals and levers. Their mission will be to develop a sound understanding of the crafting recipes, and outsmart the other players through their ingenious contraptions.

Center Stage –Heroes and Villains Cabaret! Scenes & Songs
1-3 Grade; M-F 9:00 am-12:00pm; $250

A fun mix of characters in short scenes and songs for each student to dive into. Ellen will assign songs and scenes that showcase each child's strengths. Performance on the last day.

Wearable Technology
2-6 Grade; M-F 9:00 am-12:00 pm; $250

Calling all tech enthusiasts! Ever think about what futuristic clothing and accessories might look like? Do you like technology so much that you would like to wear it? Then this is the class for you! We will be exploring soft circuits including conducting thread and felt to make accessories that light up and move. Here are some projects we may make: Light up bracelets, Rotating badge, Blinking necklace, adding technology to existing clothing. Combine your robotics mind with your creative cap to make fun wearable technology in our class, where we wear tech!

Puppets! with Perry Alley Puppet Theater
1-6 Grade; M-F 9:00 am-12:00 pm; $250

Perry Alley Puppet Theater is in town and they are stopping here at CEE! Imaginary and miniature worlds come alive as you make puppets and create stories with your characters. Students will make shadow puppets and have fun creating stories that will be projected on the shadow screen. Then we move onto rod puppets and you make characters for a culminating Puppet Show!

"Perry Alley Theatre" has been touring puppet shows and workshops for over 25 years. They have had diverse training in theatre, puppetry, dance, music and design. They have been honored with many awards including from the Jim Henson Foundation.

Math Fitness
4–6 Grade; M-F 9:00 am – 12:00 pm; $250

Fitness for your brain AND body. We will start out the class with 10 minutes of physical exercises that are fun for kids (think crossfit) and then spend 15 minutes solving math problems. Then we will go over solutions and start the rep again, just like in exercise class. Another 10 minutes of sustained cardio exercise, then 20 minutes of another problem/solution. Activities vary for a great morning of Math Fitness!

Jedi Training
1-3 Grade; M-F 9:00 am–12:00 pm; $250

The force will be with you as you learn the ways of the Padawan. All are welcome to new projects each year. Play ultimate Deathstar games, build Star Wars vehicles and go from Jedi to Knight! Draw the Clone Wars characters, create a Jedi uniform, and take home a light saber.

Basketball and your Highlight Reel with the Hoop Masters
K-6 Grade; M-F 9:00 am–12 pm; $250

Girls and boys join Hoop Masters a lot of Basketball playing. THEN, have a blast putting together a video of YOU playing ball. All of your best moments (and maybe some special effects).

Center Stage: Showstoppers from Broadway – Old and New
3-6 Grade; M-F 12:45-3:00 pm; $200

From the newest tunes going around in our heads to some of the old Broadway classics. From loud showstoppers to beautiful ballads, if you love to sing your heart will soar in this broadway singing class.

Cardboard MANIA with Keven
1-6 Grade; 12:45 pm-3:00 pm; $200

In this class students will learn the tricks of the trade and become cardboard engineers! In 2012, Caine's Arcade started a cardboard building revolution, this class encourages that kind of creativity and innovation. Reminiscent of childhood backyard projects with an old refrigerator box, students will brainstorm ideas, make maquettes, and learn how to build structures. In this process they will practice a variety of techniques such as scoring and folding, rolling and tucking, slot joints and taping. And then we will design and build an arcade style game. Will yours be like Skeeball? Whack-a-Mole? Or entirely new? On the final day we will culminate with an Arcade Party where we can all try our luck and have fun playing each other's inventions. Chess
1-3 Grade; M-F 12:45 pm-3:00 pm; $200

All levels welcome. Chess is a great game to learn that will last a lifetime. Beginners will be taught how the pieces move and the rules to the game. Experienced players will learn more strategies for their games.

Web Design with Kayla - Digital Design for the World Wide Web
3-6 Grade; M-F 12:45 pm-3:00 pm; $200

Web design is an important skill of the 21st century, an AMAZING tool for the aspiring web designers and it's just plain fun. By focusing on project brainstorming, user experiences and practical skills needed, students will build a real website. It might be about an activity or subject you love or some events that you are a part of. You can create a site for yourself or for a group project. Then you will use your site to write a blog using your expertise and opinions.

Number Sense
1 & 2 Grade; M-F 12:45 pm-3:00 pm; $200

Learn about numbers through concrete and pictorial methods. We will use lots of manipulatives to build our number sense understanding. We will challenge our minds to think about numbers flexibly through routines involving number talks, quick images, the rekenrek, ten-frames, and more! We will play games that boost our number sense and fact family knowledge.

Mandarin Chinese Immersion Language Camp (Beginners)
4–6 Grade; M-F 9:00 am-12:00 pm; $500 (for 2 weeks)
Weeks 3 & 4 (2 week program)

The Chinese Language Academy classes are activity-oriented, dynamic and fun as you learn Chinese through an immersive technique. Games, calligraphy, arts & crafts, and other camp activities make the learning experience joyful and engaging. The CLA teaching philosophy pursues "Efficiency and Effectiveness" in teaching practices.

Mandarin Chinese Immersion Language (Advanced Beginners)
4–6 Grade; M-F 12:45 pm-3:00 pm; $400 (for 2 weeks)

The learning (and fun) continues. This class is for students who have taken the beginner class or who have some experience speaking Chinese. Fun camp activities as you learn Chinese through an immersive technique. Games, calligraphy, etc.

Center Stage w/Ellen - GUYS AND DOLLS
3– 6 Grade; M-F 9:00 am-12:00 pm; $500 (for 2 weeks)

One fun musical in two weeks. Join Ellen as you jump right into the scenes, songs and characters of this classic broadway musical. GUYS AND DOLLS follows gangsters and gamblers and smart-talking Sky Masterson as he tried to win the heart of straight-laced Sarah Brown. Some of the classic songs are: Sit Down You're Rockin' the Boat, Luck Be a Lady, Adelaide's Lament, A Bushel and a Peck, and more! Performance will by July 21 at 11:00 am.

Center Stage Jr. w/Ellen - Pinocchio
1-3 Grade; M-F 12:45 pm-3:00 pm; $400 (for 2 weeks)

One fun musical in 2 weeks. Join Ellen as you jump right into the scenes, songs and characters of a classic broadway musical. Genet, Jiminy Cricket and the Blue Fairy try to help Pinocchio but look out for Stromboli and other perils. Enjoy singing songs like When you wish Upon a Star, Got no Strings on Me, and Hi-Diddle-Dee-Dee. The performance will be on Friday, July 21 at 2 pm.

CEE Construction: Architecture, Art and Photography
2– 6 Grade; M-F 9:00 am - 12:00 pm; $250

Explore the job of architect as you watch and learn about the new buildings on campus. You will be creating some of your own design projects using architectural techniques and materials, photography and a variety of other arts. You will even have a chance to interview builders and architects involved in the current CEE building project.

Science Explosion
1-3 Grade; M-F 9:00 am-12:00 pm; $250

Science can be so much fun! We teach inquiry-based exploration with hands-on materials to help students develop critical thinking skills. You won’t be bored for one minute with the wide range of science we experience in this class: Color changing beads, Ice-Cube ropes, Seltzer Blasters, Boomerangs, and more!

Book & Storymaking with Stephanie

Star in your own storybook! We’ll read stories and then write our own. Using digital photos, your own drawing and the computer we will create a digital book that you can take home! These are truly fun and beautiful keepsakes of your child’s creativity.

Junior Top Chef
3–6 Grade; M-F 9:00 am-12:00 pm; $250

Follow recipes, learn about ingredients, plan a meal and hone your kitchen skills. We will cook a variety of dishes, breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks. As students gain experience we will have some team cooking challenges and points earned will get them cooking ingredients and privileges. How are you at cracking eggs one handed, creating a recipe for a smoothie, sculpting with butter, making the perfect salad?

Kamp Kayla
1-3 Grade; M-F 9:00 am - 12:00 pm; $250

Join Kayla for all kinds of Kamp fun. Games, gardening, passion projects, arts & crafts, computer projects, community service projects and more!

Robot Making – 1 & 2
2–6 Grade; M-F 9:00 am - 12:00 pm; $250

Make 5 or 6 take-home robot models. They may include the Insectoid Robot, the Brush Robot and the Table-Top Robot. Learn engineering principles such as gears, wheels, and axles as you design amazing robots to battle against others in becoming the Battle-Bot Champion!

Minecraft Camp
1-4 Grade; M-F 9:00 am - 12:00 pm; $250

Join us to learn about and play the most popular computer game on the planet! Learn Minecraft building techniques, details of command blocks, and how to change the look of the game. Kids learn strategy, team building, and cooperation skills while playing Minecraft in a fun, safe and supervised environment.

Jewelry Making and Project Runway
1-6 Grade; M-F 9:00 am - 12:00 pm; $250

Make your own jewelry in this hands-on introduction to this creative art form. Students make professional looking beaded jewelry using a variety of materials. Items may include: earrings, bracelets, necklaces, pins, keychains and more. Then design your own “lines” of clothing, from formal gowns to casual chic! Come up with your own design for a school uniform and make an outfit for yourself using clothes from your wardrobe. It will be fun and FABULOUS!

Kids’ Café

Kids love to EAT and COOK! We will cook a variety of food while we learn about nutrition, manners, how to follow recipes and make a recipe book of your favorites. A fantasy role-playing game based on characters from The Hobbit & Lord of the Rings series by J.R.R. Tolkien. In playing D&D students will develop teamwork through group concentration, exercise their imaginations, make decisions and see the consequences of their choices. In the framework of an enjoyable adventure, students use history, mathematics, abstract reasoning, research and group problem-solving to gain success, defeat obstacles, and win ‘treasure’... and along the way there will be laughs and fun.
