The After School Program runs for three terms.
Fall registration begins on Tuesday, September 19 at 10:00 am. For up-to-date information read the Friday Bulletin and check the CEE website. Classes begin the week of September 25.
Here are some programs to make note of:
DEBATE TEAM AND CLASSES – 5th and 6th grade
Debate TEAM for 5th & 6th graders by tryout, meets weekly through May on Tuesdays 3:30-5 pm to prep.
Team members commit to Tuesdays and a few Fridays before each tournament for preparation and practice as well as all day Saturday Debate tournaments (tentative dates: November 18, February 3, April 14 and May 19).
Parent Judges – At least one parent of each debate participant needs to be trained to Judge debates and to judge a few rounds at 2 tournaments during the year. Judge training is Saturday, September 1, 8am-12pm at the Curtiss School.
Parent/Student info meeting on Monday, September 11 at 5:00 pm (right before the 6th grade Washington D.C. meeting)
Team tryouts on Tuesday, September 12 - students only. 3:30-5:15 pm (last years' team members DO need to tryout again).
Debate CLASS For any 5th & 6th graders who want the experience of learning to debate without the extra time commitment of the team or who are not quite ready for the team. Tuesdays 3:30-4:30 pm. Debate Class for 4th graders will be offered in the Spring!
SPORTS LEAGUE for 4th - 6th graders
Fall term: Soccer, Tuesdays 3:30-5:00 pm for practices and games. A few games will be scheduled on Sunday and Thursday. NOTE: ALL Fall games will be played away.
Co-ed and everyone gets playing time in 4-5 games for the Fall season.
Parents DO need to transport kids to away games (carpooling recommended).
Playing schools such as: St. James, Pilgrim, Temple Israel of Hollywood and Brawerman East!
Winter – Basketball
Spring – Volleyball
INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC - Year-long
1st - 6th grade can learn violin; 3rd - 6th grade can learn flute, clarinet, trumpet, saxophone or percussion.
Monday small group lessons after school.
Thursday or Friday before school for Ensemble Practice (intermediate & advanced students). Instrument rental/purchase info on the CEE website.
Concert in May.
WE ENCOURAGE YOU TO SIGN UP NOW FOR INSTRUMENT LESSONS NOW – separate registration on the CEE website After School Program page . All other classes will register starting September 19 at 10 am.
THREE CEE CHOIRS
Junior Choir - for 2nd & 3rd graders. Meets Wednesday and Friday mornings 7:55-8:30 am. This is a free choir open to anyone who wants to SING!
CEE Choir - for 4th-6th graders. Meets Tuesday and Thursday mornings 7:55-8:30 am. This is a free choir open to anyone who wants to SING!
A Capella Choir – 2 DAYS A WEEK! Meets TUESDAYS AND THURSDAYS after school 3:30-4:30 pm. By audition only. 3rd - 6th graders. A Capella is an award winning choir. Because of the complexity of the music, students need to be able to hold their pitch when singing in harmony with no accompaniment. Auditions will be held September 12 & 13 at lunchtime. Sign up outside of Ellen's Music Room. Previous members DO NOT need to audition again.
And still plenty of our favorite classes: Animals, Football, Cooking, Chess, Arts, Lullaby of Broadway (runs October-March, the show this year is Beauty and Beast meets Shrek), Sculpey, Minecraft, Dance, Ultimate Frisbee and more!
