Kindergarten

Children must be 5 years old by August 1, 2013 to enter our 2013-14 Kindergarten Program.

A full day program, Kindergarten is a transition from the preschool to the elementary school.  There are two master teachers in each classroom plus a co-teacher, who works with the entire grade.

In Kindergarten, teachers introduce academic subjects using learning centers and units of study.  Core subjects include language arts, math and social studies.  In addition, Kindergartners go to teacher specialists for music, art, physical education, science and library.  A separate computer class begins in 2nd grade.  However each Kindergarten classroom makes creative use of computers in learning centers.  Both classes use SMART Boards and software to support interactive learning.

Kindergarten Screening

In November, applicant families receive a Recommendation Form to be filled out by their child’s pre-school.

All students applying to Kindergarten will be invited to attend a Kindergarten Screening in December or January.  Children spend time playing, listening to a story and doing an art activity while parents see more of the campus and learn more about the Kindergarten program.
