Alumni

Welcome, CEE Alumni!

Staying in touch. Remembering those "good young days." Networking, professionally and socially, having a good time, helping CEE and getting involved in the community.  These are the goals of The Center's Alumni Association.

Keeping all that involvement running smoothly is the job of the CEE Alumni Council.  Council members are mostly over 21 and meet throughout the school year to plan activities and projects for Alumni of all ages. New members are always welcome so let us know if you would like to be a part of the council.

Our annual events are fun and rewarding all at the same time! The Winter Care Package Project for CEE alumni in their freshman year of college and the 6th Grade Alumni Roundtable following on secondary school admissions help instill a sense of community and involvement in our young alums, while our events including cooking class and Poker Night are pure fun. Alumni are also invited to many all-school events, such as the CEE Gala, because they are an important part of the CEE community.

The Council also oversees the Community Service Endowment Award, reviewing applications from eligible alumni in high school and voting on an awardee.

We look forward to having any interested alum join us at a meeting or an event. You are also welcome to just send us a Class Note. Either way, we would love to hear from you!

Alumni Events and Programs

Alumni Roundtable

Every April, graduating 6th graders meet with several young alumni at the Alumni Roundtable for a timely talk about transitioning to secondary school.  We had eight alumni currently in 7th and 8th grades who returned to their old hallway to guide and assist our 6th graders with their questions and concerns.  Four council members also attended to facilitate discussions.

We would like to say HUGE thanks to all the participants. We received great compliments from our 6th graders and their parents, and we appreciate you sharing your experiences and wisdom with those in need!

Cooking Up Somethin' Good

Our alumni are good at many things, like enjoying delicious things life has to offer and having a good time with each other.  On April 15th, we had an opportunity to learn pasta making and taste outstanding Italian fare prepared by chef Chad Colby of Mozza.  Result?  Lots of happy (and full) people in the kitchen.  Now, only if we could eat like this everyday...

Alumni Poker Night 5/3/13

Thank you for attending the Alumni Poker Night on May 3rd!  It was a great success with more than 40 alumni, alumni parents, current parents and CEE faculty and staff in attendance.  Our fabulous host, Jessica Bowman '91, made sure everyone had plenty to eat and drink, and, of course, the poker tournament itself was exhilarating.  Pictures are coming soon so stay tuned!  And we hope to see you next year!!

The Greater WeHo Food Coalition

Volunteer at GWHFC with the CEE Alumni Council!

More volunteer TBA!

Penny Landreth, CEE's longtime art teacher, and her husband, Ted, founded the Greater West Hollywood Food Coalition in 1987 and have been dedicated to helping the homeless seven evenings a week.  On October 23rd, Friends of the Food Coalition held a reception to honor Penny and Ted for their work and raise money for the organization. They need constant support to continue their work.

You can visit their website to learn about what you can do to help: http://gwhfc.org/ Please watch the video about the history and mission of the Food Coalition, put together by CEE's own Elan Sobel '96.
