    Dear Families,
     
    Thank you for visiting our CEE COVID-19 Resource pages.  Although we cannot physically be together on campus as the school year comes to a close, I remain dedicated to the health and wellness of our community and am here for you as questions come up. 
     
    I have teamed up with school nurses and public health nurses both locally and around the world to make sure our community has access to the most current resources as well as unique ideas for how to navigate the COVID-19 crisis in creative ways for early childhood and school-aged children.
     
    Please check this page periodically for updates, and feel free to reach out to me personally at lewisc@cee-school.org with specific questions. I miss seeing all of you on campus, and I look forward to all being together as a community again soon.

  • Letter from Liz Schachter, School Counselor

    Dear CEE Community,

    As we navigate these unsettling times, anxieties and worries for our children and ourselves may run high. Our children are watching and learning from us about how to respond in times of stress and uncertainty. I encourage all of us to take time for intentional self-care, and I wanted to share a few resources to help promote wellbeing and reduce anxiety for ourselves and our children.

    Things to keep in mind:
    1. Structure and routine help children (and adults) feel safe and secure. Try to give your day as much structure and predictability as possible. Using “The Healthy Mind Platter” as a guideline for setting up a schedule, especially for our younger kids, can be very helpful. 
    2. Don’t underestimate the power of play. Play keeps us grounded and improves mood. Play is fun, calming and provides a sense of connection.
    3. Get outside as much as possible. Play in your yard and take walks around your neighborhood. Fresh air and exercise are critical in promoting a sense of calm and wellbeing. 
    4. Maintain social relationships in a way that feels comfortable for you and your family.
    5. Honor your and your children’s feelings, even the hard ones. It is easy to want to dismiss and deny feelings of worry or anxiety. Instead, we want to try to “name it to tame it.” Once we can identify and explore what we are feeling, then we can take steps to move forward and come to a calmer and more peaceful state.
