At The Center for Early Education, children come first

Our mission to develop joyful, resilient, lifelong learners inspires everything we do. CEE’s founders, most of whom were professional psychoanalysts, one of the first preschool programs in Los Angeles in 1939. Today, 540 students (Toddler through Sixth Grade) and their families make up our vibrant, diverse community.

Happenings at The Center

There's a lot going on at The Center throughout the year!

The Center began as a play group for children

At The Center, students are given meaningful opportunities to apply and practice skills in real-world situations with the hope of making learning relevant, lasting, and impactful. Our goal is to graduate students who are not only lifelong learners but also adaptable, confident, and open-minded individuals, ready to thrive in any social or academic setting they encounter, both during and after their time with us.

Diversity and inclusion are at the heart of The Center, serving as a driving force in the school’s history. Culturally responsive education is integrated into all classrooms, and alongside the practice of social-emotional learning, CEE students and families celebrate differences and strive for inclusivity at all levels. CEE's Core Values of Honesty, Caring, Inclusion, and Responsibility are living, breathing tenets of our community, and each child participates in acts of service each year.

Comprehensive academic programs prepare students for secondary school and life beyond The Center. Faculty and staff are experts in their fields, maintaining the latest training in best practices for learning and child development through regular professional development. Early Childhood (Toddler, EC1, and EC2) students experience a developmentally-based program that includes indoor and outdoor experiences organized around experiential learning centers and themes, which change throughout the year. As students enter their Elementary years at CEE, they engage in a comprehensive academic program that includes Language Arts, Math, Social Studies, Science, the Arts, Music, Innovation and Design, Technology (incorporated into other subjects) and Spanish, Library, and Physical Education. Throughout every grade level, students’ social and emotional learning and well-being are integral to daily life and learning at The Center.
